Aquarium of the Pacific

The Big Bad Wolf has long been villainized by fairytales, causing undue fear and mistrust in the animal. In reality, gray wolves are social, intelligent animals that play a vital role in maintaining the balance of our ecosystems as a keystone species. Gray wolves once roamed through most of the United States but have lost 80% of their historic range from hunting and habitat loss. The species continues to face an existential threat, and today, fewer than 6,000 wolves remain in the lower 48 states.

Join us on Wednesday, Mar. 6 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. to learn how getting the facts straight about wolves can help tell a different story about the animal. The session will begin with a presentation by Erica Berry, author of “Wolfish” who will address the myths and facts around gray wolves, followed by a panel discussion with Dr. Peter Kareiva, president/CEO of the Aquarium, with an emphasis on the Endangered Species Act on its 50th anniversary.

The program will conclude with a cocktail/social hour with music, crafts and a book signing of “Wolfish” in the art gallery. Each guest will receive a complimentary beverage ticket to the cash bar and the babies gallery will be open for private after-hours access.

Tickets are $5 for advance online reservations or $10 day of the event at the door. RSVP online.
